LINDEN HILLS RENEWAL
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA
Upon purchasing this charming 1901 house in Linden Hills, the clients knew they wanted to embark on a remodeling and addition project for various reasons: the kitchen was small, the improperly footed front porch was sagging and there wasn’t a much-needed mudroom. The design solution was to reconfigure the existing footprint, while respecting the original character and details, and build an addition entirely behind the original house that was seamlessly integrated and satisfied the owners’ requirements.

The remodeled portion within the original house encompasses a new entry hall, powder room, cloak room, larger dining room, reworked stair and landing, and replacement of the failing front porch. The addition features a new kitchen, pantry, mudroom, and family room on the first floor, and a new laundry room and owners’ suite on the second floor.
OF NOTE
- Much attention was paid to the existing traditional design elements presented, such as reinterpreting the arched opening of the original fireplace for the new family room fireplace.
